The thoughts and ramblings of a Girl Missunderstood
What is it that puts the need for spring cleaning and disorder into your normal everyday life when your mother says she is going to visit?
You, hire a skip, throw absolutely anything that looks at you in the bin, hoover over and over, even manage a quick carpet clean, the toilet gets a massive going over so your image shows in the bowl, dogs are groomed and washed, cutlery, dishes washed till perfection, and airfreshner becomes your best friend..
All this for one weeks visit.
You get the phone call... "I'm coming to visit, will be there in a few weeks".. Immediately your mind goes into "oh my God" mode, and the cleaning begins. What can be thrown out, is, what can be cleaned and made to sparkle, becomes new looking, new sheets, towels, toilet paper is brought, and dusting takes place. Every tiny bit of your house becomes the dirtiest part of the house, and only you can see the dirt particles massing up on the floor and walls.
Two days before arrival, you go into panic dash mode, finishing off all the tiny bits, getting things ready for the arrival of the one person you know will see every single bit of the house the first second she walks in the door.
The front lawn is mowed, windows washed, carport cleaned out, and front door mat replaced, with the obigilatory flowerpot filled with glorious lavenders, allowing that welcome calming scent.
You just want it all to be perfect, but why?
Why does the opinion of your parents always make you feel warn out and inadequate? Why is it, when they visit, you run around like a headless chook, trying to make everything perfect?
Day of arrival, you're up early, going around the house doing last minute checks, head off to the airport, and pray nothing, not a mouse, or a small bug makes some sort of mess before you get home.
You finally arrive back, and walk through the door, fingers crossed, and ready to take their minds away from the tiny dust they can see with a good cup of coffee..
Ahh the visit of parents, you can't do without it, wouldn't want to do without it, and are glad when it's over..
So now, this house cleaning freak of a lady, is off to make a mess hehe kidding...
Happy blogging :)
